To add to the woes of these exporters, the European Union -- the largest export market for Indian marine products - has also threatened to ban imports from India in the absence of catch certificates. These two developments coupled with the US move to maintain the 0.76 per cent anti-dumping duty on shrimp imports from India have put under cloud the country's target of exporting marine products worth Rs 10,000 crore (Rs 100 billion) this year.

Last month saw eight massacres across the United States, killing 57 people. Guns were the weapons of murder in each case.Many Indian Americans buy and carry guns out of necessity. Others buy it with the view to having another fancy possession. But when you have a gun in your hands, the temptation to use it also goes up, police and other experts warn.

In an apparent case of murder-suicide, a Malayali woman and her two children were found dead in the family's home in Delta Township, west of Lansing, Michigan.The dead victims were identified as Brigeethamma Shajimon, 40, Alwin Shajimon Thomas, 10, and Alfred Shajimon Thomas, 5, by the Eaton County Sheriff's Office.Brigeethamma's husband Shajimon Thomas called the police on Monday evening. He told the police that he had found the bodies in his home at Plum Tree Apartments.
